When yes is too much 3

I’m rubbish at saying no to things and it’s not good for my health. I like to be helpful, I don’t like to let people down and I don’t like to admit that I really don’t have the skills to meet a request.  I need to learn to say no, I need the confidence to say “No”. It’s one of the things that pushed me over the edge recently.  I took on too much, then gave myself a hard time for not being able to cope with it all when I felt I really should, got frustrated with myself… took on […]

Oh wow, I think this is the first time in many many years I have actually been happy with the way my blog looks. Go me. So I’m back. Life has changed, unsurprisingly. I’m now the proud(?) owner of an MSc.  However, my brain finally stopped being able to cope with stuff again last week and my GAD has reared its head again. Cue med dose increase and fabulous(!) side effects.  Writing here does help me cope with stuff though as it helps to fend off the brain spirals but these days it seems like even the CBT I had many […]

366: A Year of No-Poo

…you’ve probably already decided I’m some sort of smelly hippy and don’t have a “normal” life where I have a job/social life… twirliegirly 24/05/2015 That was me, writing one of my first entries on this re-boot of my blogging life, exactly 366 days ago (gotta love a leap year).  That was me right at the start of my No-Poo journey.  Armed with (what are generally considered to be) the no-poo staples: bicarbonate of soda, apple cider vinegar (ACV) and a bristle brush.  My go-to reference was Happy Hair[A] and, well, it got referred to quite a lot! So before I tell […]

Not So Normal Service Resumed

So a lot has happened since I last posted.  I’ve finished that cyperbunk series (enjoyed, review in the process of being composed), closely followed by the rather surprising Steampunk adventure which is Alice’s Adventures in Steamland: The Clockwork GoddessA (very twisted, very entertaining, but not for children or the faint of heart, probably should review it properly too).  In the real world the crazy people continue to kill, maim, incite hatred, troll, spout rubbish and deny rights.  In my own bubble, I’ve baked, I’ve cut my own hair at least twice, it has snowed rather a lot and there have been a few storms .  Oh, […]

The only time people are binary

“There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don’t.” – Unknown I have recently become rather obsessed with understanding binary code. I think it stems from being intrigued by binary clocks (I just got a binary coded decimal (BCD) clock home screen widget on my Android phone).  Anyway, I pulled my finger out and I can now read binary numbers, albeit not as quickly as I would read in my “native” decimal.  Next stop is the binary alphabet…. Binary numbers are actually strangely calming.  I have been having some minor coping wobbles lately and having something […]
